YEREVAN. – President of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Ara Babloyan, on Monday received Czech Ambassador Petr Mikiska.

First, Babloyan underscored the role of parliamentary ties in the development of bilateral relations, the NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Also, the speaker of the Armenian parliament thanked the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech parliament for adopting a resolution that recognizes and condemns Armenian Genocide and other crimes against humanity.

In addition, Ara Babloyan stated that Armenia and Azerbaijan were moving along different paths. 

“We [Armenia] have chosen the path of democracy, whereas Azerbaijan, on the contrary, gradually weakens democracy.” 

Ambassador Mikiska likewise reflected on the avenues for the development of Armenian-Czech relations and parliamentary ties. Separately, he reaffirmed the Czech Chamber of Deputies speaker’s invitation to the NA president to visit the Czech Republic.  

Furthermore, the Czech diplomat attached importance to the role of mutual visits and exchange programs in the development of cooperation between the two countries.
