YEREVAN. - Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Ara Babloyan on Friday received Chargé d'Affaires of Syrian Embassy in Armenia Essam Nayyal. 

Welcoming the guest, the Speaker expressed concern over the situation in Syria.

Babloyan expressed gratitude for the warm treatment towards the Armenians and the Armenian community, who found refuge in Syria as a result of the Armenian Genocide. In his words, the grateful Armenian people are always ready to help friendly Syrian people.

Referring to the situation in the region, Babloyan noted that the activity of certain countries and its consequences should be in the center of attention of Europe and the entire civilized world.

He also underscored the importance of the inter-parliamentary friendship groups and spoke about the formation of the newly-elected Armenia-Syria friendship group. Furthermore, Babloyan invited to Armenian= the members of the friendship group with Armenia of the Syrian parliament.

Chargé d'Affaires of Syrian Embassy in Armenia Essam Nayyal, for his part, congratulated Ara Babloyan on being elected NA Speaker. Mr Nayyal also congratulated the Armenian people on holding fair and transparent elections, which were witnessed by the international experts, who arrived in Armenia in those days.

The Chargé d'Affaires also briefed the Armenian official on the situation in Syria and thanked the Armenian people, as well as the Syrian Armenian community for supporting the Syrian people during the crisis.

Referring to the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, Essam Nayyal noted that Turkey now conducts the same policy in regard to the Syrian people, continuing committing crimes in Syria.

By the end of the meeting, Babloyan wished the friendly Syrian people reestablishment of peace, stabilization of situation and prosperity.
