The Turkish authorities continue to use last year's coup attempt as an excuse for mass arrests.

As a result of police raids on July 10, 72 people were arrested, Hurriyet reported. Most of the arrested were working at the universities of Medeniyet and Bogazici. Among the detainees is Academician Koray Chaliskan.

All detainees are suspected of having links to the Fetullah Gulen movement, whom Ankara accuses of organizing a coup. In particular, the accused are charged with using the ByLock application, which, according to the Turkish authorities, is used by members of the organization to exchange messages.
