YEREVAN. – Armenia is liberalizing its visa policy with India, and as a result, the process of Armenian visa issuance to Indian citizens will be facilitated.

The respective decision was adopted at Thursday’s Cabinet session of the government of Armenia.

When heading to Armenia, Indian citizens will from now be able to be issued visas at Armenia’s border checkpoints, or diplomatic representations and consulates abroad.

“For now, the citizens of India can come to Armenia [solely] by invitation,” Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan noted when introducing the respective bill. “But this requirement will be lifted in the near future, and the visa will be able to be obtained not only at the embassy [of Armenia], but also at the border [check]points [of the country], and even electronically.”

He added that as a result of adopting this decision, a tourist flow from India to Armenia is expected.
