YEREVAN. – The roundtable discussion between the university students, who are protesting against the curtailing of the right to military deferment in Armenia, and the representatives of the authorities, have gotten underway Wednesday at the National Assembly (NA).

An agreement was reached earlier that the discussion will be held in a debate format, and that it will be broadcast live.

Both sides of this debate have five members, each.

On November 15, the NA passed the bill on Military Service and the Status of Military Servicemen, which considerably limits the right to military deferment in Armenia.

The protesting university students argue that this law will hamper the development of science in the country.
