YEREVAN. – Republic of Armenia National Assembly (RA NA) Chairman Ara Babloyan on Friday received Romanian Ambassador Sorin Vasile, who visited the parliament in connection with completing his diplomatic mission in the country.
Assessing the ambassador’s contribution to the expansion and deepening of Armenian-Romanian relations, the head of the parliament noted that the two peoples’ friendship has a history dating back to centuries, the NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Also, the RA NA speaker stated that the next generations of the Armenians, who had survived the genocide at the beginning of the twentieth century and were granted asylum in Romania, today are dignified citizens of that country.
Touching upon the Armenia-European Union (EU) Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement that was signed in Brussels in November, the RA NA chairman noted that Armenia stands ready to contribute to the establishment of discourse between the EU and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
Also, Babloyan referred to the importance of the two countries’ cooperation within other international platforms and of supporting each other.
Ambassador Vasile, for his part, spoke about the achievements that were recorded in bilateral relations during his tenure in Armenia. In addition, the diplomat highlighted the commonalities between the system of values and historical destinies of the two peoples.
Furthermore, Sorin Vasile noted that during his diplomatic mission in Armenia, he witnessed the development of democracy in the country.
With regards to the RA-EU Partnership Agreement, the Romanian ambassador stated that Armenia, being an EAEU member, has a considerable potential and opportunity to become a bridge between the EU and the EAEU.
Also, Ambassador Vasile expressed his gratitude to the RA parliament for its cooperation with the Embassy of Romania in Yerevan, and promoting the invigoration of friendly bilateral relations.
At the end of their talk, Ara Babloyan wished Sorin Vasile success and new achievements in his future activities.
