YEREVAN. – A controversial bill that could cause a new rift between the believers in national values and supporters of the national family unit, and the devotees to modern-day relations and European values, has been submitted to the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, according to Zhamanak (Time) newspaper.

“Next week, the draft law on making amendments and additions to the Family Code [of Armenia] shall be discussed at the NA [Standing] Committee on State and Legal Affairs [and Protection of Human Rights], whereupon it will be submitted to the parliament’s approval.

“Those changes reflect on the protection of rights of the child, adoption of children, [and] the justification for deprivation of parental rights, many of which may give rise to different interpretation,” wrote Zhamanak.
