YEREVAN. – Tuesday morning’s powerful explosion at a building in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, had occurred in the apartment on the first floor (PHOTOS).

Eyewitnesses say, according to preliminary information, the cause of this explosion was a natural gas leak, and the entire building was damaged by this explosion, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informed from the scene.

Police and rescuers are working on location.

Earlier, the gas department specialists were working at the scene.

The Minister of Emergency Situations, Davit Tonoyan, also arrived there right after the incident.

Yerevan Deputy Mayor Kamo Areyan also came to the scene.

According to relatives of the owners of this apartment, there was no one inside at the time of the explosion, and they had come to collect the remains of the items that were left in the apartment.

As reported earlier, the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a call, on Tuesday at 5:11am, informing that an explosion had occurred at an entrance of a building in Yerevan.

Two fire and rescue squads were dispatched to the scene.

It was found out that the explosion had occurred in an apartment. As a result, the partition walls and the balcony of this apartment had collapsed. In addition, the windows of the second, third, and fourth floors were damaged.

There are no casualties or injuries.

Ten cars, which were parked in the yard, were also damaged.

Rescuers evacuated fourteen people.
