The European Union must take urgent measures at the World Trade Organisation (WTO)  if the US goes ahead with tariffs on steel and aluminum, Reuters reported quoting French President Emmanuel Macron.

Acting after the meeting with Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard, Macron said that the measures announced by President Donald Tramp are “economic nationalism” and nationalism was a war in which all sides lose.

“It is important in this context that the European Union reacts swiftly and proportionately within the WTO and in respect of the WTO,” Macron told journalists.

As reported earlier, US will impose customs tariffs on steel and aluminum imports- 25 percent and 10 percent respectively.
