YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on Monday formally opened the 35th Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.

In his remarks, Mnatsakanyan noted that the members of this organization are linked to one another not solely through French as their common language of communication, but also through their shared values: liberty, democracy, and human rights.

As per the Armenian FM, the OIF is a single platform for the development of cooperation, and joint work. Mnatsakanyan added that Yerevan hosts the La Francophonie Summit on the threshold of its anniversary.

And at the end of his remarks, the Armenian FM proposed to observe a minute’s silence in memory of legendary French Armenian artist Charles Aznavour, who passed away on October 1.

The meeting of the OIF FMs will last two days, whereupon the La Francophonie Summit will get underway, and it will bring together more than 80 delegations from OIF member and observer countries.
