The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has made no decision yet with respect to conducting a snap parliamentary election in December.

Vahram Baghdasaryan, head of the National Assembly (NA) faction of the former ruling RPA, stated about the aforementioned at Monday’s parliamentary briefing.

In his words, they stand ready to reach an agreement with the other political forces—but along the lines of a normal negotiation process.

“They should give time to us all that we can prepare, and the snap parliamentary elections are held in agreement, [and] without any shock and problems,” Baghdasaryan explained.

In the RPA NA faction leader’s views, holding this election in December is a quite perilous move because, as a result, the next Armenian legislature may end up under the control of solely one political force.

“I don’t think this is right for a country with parliamentary system [of governance] [and] where there is democracy and fast-growing economy,” Vahram Baghdasaryan added.

At the same time, he yet again assured that although the “road” to negotiations is not closed for them, these talks should not be in the form of ultimatums.”
