YEREVAN. – The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) will run in the snap parliamentary election as a radical-constructive opposition.

Vahram Baghdasaryan, head of the National Assembly (NA) faction of the former ruling party, noted the aforementioned during Friday’s briefings at parliament.

He said the RPA will soon convene a congress, during which the final format for their running in this election will be determined, and the list of their MP candidates will be prepared.

“The RPA will submit a list worthy of an opposition force,” Baghdasaryan assured, and added that the party was ready for any election results.

The lawmaker stressed that the objective of their political force will be to form a political parliament worthy of a parliamentary republic.

“Becoming a power or an opposition has never been an end in itself to us [the RPA],” Vahram Baghdasaryan said. “In case of a change of situation, any political force should be ready to be the power and the opposition, alike, including the minority in parliament.”

Also, he did not rule out that the RPA might not win parliamentary seats at all.
