The CSTO leaders have not yet settled the issue over the new CSTO Secretary General, spokesperson for the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said.

“No, the matter has not been resolved,” Peskov said, adding that the issue was touched upon by the member states on Thursday in Saint Petersburg where the Supreme Eurasian Commission took place.

Peskov said that Lukashenko touched upon the matter, although it was not on the agenda.

“It is normal, each leader can discuss issues if he considers it necessary,” spokesperson for the Kremlin said.

However, not all leaders of the CSTO were present at the table that time. The conversation continued during the CIS summit.

“The work will continue,” Peskov resumed.

As reported earlier, talking to reports on the margins of the Eurasian Union summit, Lukashenko said the leaders had decided to appoint Belarus representative as the next CSTO Secretary General.
