YEREVAN. – Armenian Ambassador Tigran Seiranian met with president Radek Vondráček of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

They discussed the avenues for the deepening and expanding of Armenian-Czech relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Also, they confirmed the high level of bilateral interparliamentary relations. In this connection, the Armenian diplomat expressed confidence that an active friendship group with the Czech Republic will be formed soon at the new National Assembly of Armenia.

In addition, Ambassador Seiranian presented to the Czech legislature speaker the ongoing democratic reforms in Armenia, and spoke about the current phase in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict. Speaker Vondráček, for his part, reaffirmed the Czech position on resolving this conflict solely by way of peace talks, and he wished success in the ongoing positive processes in Armenia.

Also, the interlocutors stressed the importance of using the great potential in bilateral economic relations between Armenia and the Czech Republic.

Furthermore, they underscored the continuity of Armenia’s cooperation programs with the European Union (EU). In this regard, the Armenian ambassador expressed the hope that the Czech Chamber of Deputies will ratify the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement within the shortest possible time, and noted that the Senate of the Czech Republic already ratified it in May. In response, Radek Vondráček noted that the Czech Chamber of Deputies had not yet ratified this agreement for purely technical reasons due to the very hectic domestic agenda of the Czech Republic. But he expressed confidence that this matter will be resolved in a foreseeable future.
