Armenian Ambassador to Iraq Hrachya Poladian handed his credentials to the Iraqi President, Barham Salih, Armenian MFA’s press service reported.

During the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed the Armenian President Armen Sarkissian’s warm greetings. Ambassador Poladian assured that the daily working agenda will aim at the development of bilateral cooperation as well as at the strengthening of the Armenian-Iraqi friendly relations.

According to him, currently the trade turnover between Armenia and Iraq reaches $ 120 million, and  about 5,000 Iraqi tourists visited Armenia in 2018 and that number could grow.

Iraqi President, in his turn, also touched upon the great role of the Armenian community in the development of relations between the two countries, noting that the Iraqi-Armenian community has historical roots in Iraq. He also urged Armenia to participate in the reconstruction of Iraq.
