A Ukrainian court on Thursday sentenced ex-president Viktor Yanukovich to 13 years in jail on treason charges, Reuters reported referring to judge.
According to the judge, his conduct in office had opened the door to Russia’s annexation of Crimea and conflict in eastern Ukraine.
Criminal proceedings against Yanukovych were considered by a special (extramural) procedure as the accused was in Russia.
