Making a decision on granting the status of a province of Armenia to Artsakh must be reserved to the new government of Artsakh to be formed after the presidential elections. This is what Zhirayr Sefilyan, who helped undertake the establishment of the Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of Sassoun) Party, told journalists during a March 18 press conference.

He is certain that the idea of being unified with Armenia is “close to the hearts” of the citizens of Artsakh, and according to Sefilyan, there are many paths to achieve this legally. “This can be either through a referendum or through nation-wide elections.”

Sefilyan believes there is a need to rush. “We all see the latest geopolitical developments and the risk that our country faces, particularly Artsakh. Artsakh is at risk of becoming a country like Abkhazia, and we need to prevent this from happening. We hope the authorities in Yerevan will help us in this process,” Sefilyan said.

The Sasna Tsrer Party has launched a petition in Artsakh to provide the citizens of Artsakh with the opportunity to participate in the elections of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and referenda.
