President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian met with President of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) Berge Setrakian.

President Armen Sarkissian, who has been a member of the AGBU Central Board of Directors since 2016, talked about the current and upcoming programs of the AGBU and attached special importance to the cultural and humanitarian initiatives that are aimed at instilling in young Diaspora Armenians interest in the rich heritage and traditions of the Armenian nation.

Welcoming the expanding presence and activities of the organization in Armenia, the Armenian President highly appreciated the Union’s involvement in the solutions to issues of pan-Armenian significance.

During the meeting, President Armen Sarkissian and Berge Setrakian also touched upon Armenia-Diaspora relations, the AGBU’s mission for the development and strengthening of those relations, as well as the implementation of Armenian-centered and Armenia-centered programs.
