The IT sector covers 4.5% of Armenia’s GDP. This is what Deputy of the Prosperous Armenia faction Mikayel Melkumyan said as he addressed Armenia’s Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies during a discussion on the package of bills on making amendments and supplements to the Law "On state support to the information technologies sector" and on making amendments to the Tax Code on 28 March.

According to Melkumyan, IT products can be exported by simply pressing a button. Melkumyan also asked Arshakyan about any component of shadow economy in the IT sector.

Of course, Minister Arshakyan failed to assess the possible potential and volumes of shadow economy in the IT sector and said he could only discuss the mechanisms. According to Arshakyan, the bill submitted to the National Assembly is also called for legitimizing IT companies.
