Russian border guards who are stationed in Armenia have apprehended a trespasser who had illegally crossed the Armenian-Turkish border.

Several days ago, the border guards had noticed an unknown person on the Turkish side of the border, and who had approached Armenia’s state border, press service of the Russian Federal Security Service Border Guard Department in Armenia reported. Subsequently, he crossed the Araks River which the state border runs along, and attempted to hide in Armenia. But a few minutes later, servicemen from the Artashat border detachment detained him.

The detainee said he was a Pakistani citizen and he had intended to go to European Union countries.

A Pakistani citizen’s passport and a mobile phone were found in his possession.

Measures are taken to ascertain all the circumstances behind committing this crime.
