A sports society needs to be restored in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.

This is what Armenia’s Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan declared during a question-and-answer session with government officials at the National Assembly on 17 April, responding to the question of MP and athlete Arsen Julfalakyan.

Tonoyan also stated that athletes having achieved some successes are already being exempt from military service so that they stay in shape.

“However, there is also a need to create a sports society in the armed forces, and works for that are underway,” Tonoyan said.
