YEREVAN. – I rule out that any official could be set up.

Vice president of the National Assembly of Armenia, Lena Nazaryan, on Friday stated the above-said speaking with reporters in parliament. She noted this while reflecting on the criminal charge that has been brought against Davit Sanasaryan, head of the State Oversight Service.

In her words, a respective investigation is in progress.

“We have said that in the fight against corruption we will not divide people to our own people and to others, as it was before,” Nazaryan said.

The parliament vice-speaker added that she trusts the National Security Service (NSS) and Sanasaryan can act to his benefit.

“There will be facts, [and then] everyone will speak,” she noted.

Asked whether this development in connection with the head of the State Oversight Service was reducing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s popularity, Lena Nazaryan responded as follows: “No, on the contrary. There may have been disagreements in the past, too, but the public had no information about them. Now those disagreements are being voiced, and we have the opportunity to be aware and judge by the facts.”

Lena Nazaryan, however, ruled out that Davit Sanasaryan was being set up.

“Also, I rule that anyone will go unpunished if found guilty,” she added, in particular.

Within the framework of a criminal case which the NSS is investigating, Davit Sanasaryan on Thursday was charged with abusing his official powers, and a signature bond to not leave Armenia was selected as a pretrial measure for him.
