YEREVAN. – The Investigative Committee of Armenia has filed a criminal case into the theft of close to AMD18 million (approx. $37,800) from an ATM in capital city Yerevan.

According to preliminary information, on Sunday between 4am and 5am, a person—or persons—opened the door of a bank ATM in Yerevan by detonating it, and stole a large amount of cash money from inside, the Investigative Committee informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to preliminary information, the damage caused amounts to AMD17,974,000 (approx.. $37,750).

Several forensic examinations have been ordered.

Investigative actions are taken to ascertain the circumstances behind this incident.

The preliminary investigation is in progress.

The relevant police units have been instructed to find out the person—or persons—who committed this crime, and to submit the identity—or identities—to the agency conducting the proceedings.
