Judge Arsen Nikoghosyan of the Criminal Court of Appeal rendered today a decision to uphold the appeal filed by Judge Davit Grigoryan’s attorney Georgy Melikyan under Grigoryan’s case and overturn the court decision on permitting the search of Grigoryan’s office, as reported Melikyan to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Thus, upon entry into legal force of the decision, the act of conducting a search in the office of the judge will be recognized as inadmissible evidence, and the objects seized from the office are not subject to use as evidence.

On July 16, by a court decision, a search was conducted in the office of Judge Davit Grigoryan, after which three computers, as well as drives and documents related to the case of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan were seized. On July 27, the Supreme Judicial Council upheld the motions of prosecutors and gave consent to institution of criminal prosecution against Davit Grigoryan. Upon the decision of the Supreme Judicial Council, the judge’s powers were suspended. Later, Davit Grigoryan was charged with official forgery for mercenary purposes or based on other personal motives or due to group interests. Davit Grigoryan was the judge in the case of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, and on May 18, he rendered a decision to release Kocharyan, accepting as a basis the personal pledge of the former and incumbent presidents of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic).
