Five people died on Thursday night as a result of shooting in a gambling club in Puente Alto, a suburb of the Chilean capital Santiago, TASS reported.

The shooting was opened by an unknown man, eyewitnesses told Bio Bio radio station.

According to police, the man fired at least 42 shots on the premises. The cause of the shooting may be a conflict that occurred shortly before this outside the institution.

The search for the attacker is ongoing. Law enforcement officers do not exclude that he could have accomplices.
