Joseph Dunford, chair of the chief of staff of the US Armed Forces, said that Russia and China are real threats to the American space forces, RBK reported.

According to him, in the 1990s, when the US created many opportunities in space, Washington proceeded from the fact that it would have no rivals.

Today there is rivalry that includes Russia and China, he said.

Dunford added that these states threaten US capabilities in space, and therefore there is a real threat to American commercial and military interests inextricably linked to space.

In late August, US President Donald Trump announced the creation of the space command of the country and said that in the future, space will become a field of military operations.
