Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is in Bishkek on a working visit, had a meeting with the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sooronbay Jeenbekov.

Jeenbekov noted that this meeting is a good opportunity to discuss prospects for development of relations. "During our CSTO chairmanship, we have made every effort to further develop the organization," the Kyrgyz president said. "We are interested in meeting all possible challenges with joint efforts, as well as to develop relations with friendly Armenia."

Pashinyan, for his part, noted that bilateral Armenian-Kyrgyz political relations have a long history, and the governments should take steps to develop economic cooperation as well. "We have the opportunity to give new impetus to trade and economic relations; there is the necessary potential for that," Pashinyan said. "Initiatives should be launched to promote economic relations between the two countries."

"We work closely within the framework of the CSTO, EAEU, CIS," he added, "which creates a good opportunity for bilateral as well as multilateral cooperation."

During the private talk, the Armenian Prime Minister and the Kyrgyz President discussed Armenian-Kyrgyz relations, highlighted the steps necessary for economic interaction, and the expansion of business ties.

The parties also exchanged views on cooperation within the framework of integration unions.
