The presence of a criminal subculture and generally organized crime create problems for different spheres of society, Armenian Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan told reporters on Thursday.

According to him, the draft of the new Criminal Code is being discussed today, and as regards the fight against elements of a criminal subculture, this was spelled out in another legislative initiative.

"One of the steps to solve this problem is the introduction of criminal liability for the actions that we have described. This is not limited to this, since it only criminalizes actions that pose the greatest threat to society. We are ready to listen to additional suggestions and make adjustments. Projects were supposed to be sent back in the fall, however, due to the large volume of work, the process was a little delayed. The draft of the new Criminal Code will be presented to the office of Armenian Prime Minister this month," he said.

There are public discussions on the draft Criminal Code in Yerevan on Thursday.
