The Commission on State and Legal Issues of the Public Council of Armenia elected a new chair on Saturday.

Members of the Public Council Hovhannes Hovhannisyan and Armen Ter-Tachatyan chaired the meeting.

Three members were nominated for the post of chair of the commission - Khachatur Maraozhan, Ruben Balabanyan and Oleg Dulgaryan.

The members of the commission sent candidates questions on the judicial system, the Istanbul Convention, and the mining industry.

As a result of a closed, secret ballot, Ruben Balabanyan was elected to the post of chair of the commission, having received a majority vote.
