The Police of Armenia have made a publication stating that the supporters of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan are meeting those affected by the events that took place on March 1, 2008 and eyewitnesses and trying to bribe them so that they refuse to testify.

In an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am, Head of the Office of the Second President of Armenia Victor Soghomonyan said this is an attempt to repress the Criminal Court of Appeal, which is going to announce the decision on the appeal to release Robert Kocharyan on bail tomorrow.

“This publication left the impression of a cheap act. There is nothing specific in the publication, and it is not clear which criminal case or testimony we’re dealing with. It’s clear that this is an attempt to repress the Criminal Court of Appeal, which will be announcing a decision on the appeal to release Robert Kocharyan on bail tomorrow, and the argument (last hope) of the prosecutors is that Robert Kocharyan can have an influence on the eyewitnesses while in liberty and that his supporters are having an impact on the eyewitnesses even without Robert Kocharyan. This is such a primitive operation. There is also a very strange claim that a certain supporter is telling people to change their testimonies. Question: What testimony? None of the testimonies is against Robert Kocharyan. Besides this, what does “person affected by the case of March 1” mean? This case is a case related to overthrow of constitutional order, the affected persons of which are other people. The case has nothing to do with murders. This cheap trick affirms that the government is exerting pressure on courts and their decisions in this way as well.”
