YEREVAN. – The National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia has uncovered another case of large-scale illegal drug smuggling into the country.
By order of two acquaintances living in Yerevan, an Armenian citizen in Russia illegally obtained large quantities of methadone and cocaine which he hid in a secret compartment in an electric saw, and on January 25, in Moscow, he transferred them in a bag to driver of a van carrying cargo to Armenia, giving the driver the customers’ phone numbers, the NSS informs Armenian News-NEWS.am. On February 3, these drugs were imported to Armenia via the Bagratashen border crossing and hidden from customs, and the customers of these drugs received the cargo on February 3 and, under the NSS supervision, and transported it to their storage area, after which they were detained.
In the context of the NSS criminal case launched into this incident, irrefutable evidence was obtained to prove this crime.
An investigation is underway.
