The Constitution of 2015 is imperfect, full of big and small discrepancies, and it must be amended sooner or later. This is stated in the statement that Republic Party issued today.

The statement particularly reads as follows:

“Based on the need to solve the situation created after the legislative and executive powers were changed after legitimate elections, and based on the fact that there is total distrust in the judiciary and the Constitutional Court is considered the highest body of the judiciary with the peremptory reputation of a servant of the former authorities, a situation that can’t be solved in any other way besides a referendum, the Republic Party is joining the campaign for “Yes” to the constitutional amendments.

At the same time, Republic Party reminds that it had proposed to elect new members of the Constitutional Court right after the snap parliamentary elections due to the need for systemic changes. We believe that only a system ensuring presidential governance can serve as a model that will provide the opportunity to make fundamental, invariable and rapid decisions.
