A workshop for a public discussion on the bill “On the Anti-Corruption Committee” and for summing up the results of the public monitoring of the activities carried out through the Anti-Corruption Strategy and 2019-22 Action Plan for its Implementation in 2019 was held with the participation of Deputy Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan today. The workshop was organized by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association NGO and the CSOs Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia, as reported the Department of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Justice of Armenia.

In her opening speech, Deputy Minister Galyan expressed gratitude to all the participants for attending the discussion and for showing interest in the development of the anti-corruption policy. Touching upon the creation of a body conducting investigation into corruption crimes, Srbuhi Galyan attached importance to the fact that the legislative acts regulating the sector should be adopted through a process that will be as participatory and inclusive as possible.

During the workshop, Deputy Minister Galyan introduced the participants of the discussion to the legal regulations prescribed by the bill “On the Anti-Corruption Committee” and particularly touched upon the formation of the Committee, the mechanism for election of the chairperson, the Committee’s activities, the social guarantees for the Committee’s members, the Committee’s accountability to the National Assembly, the mechanisms for verifying the integrity for selecting the Committee’s members and other regulations prescribed by the transitional provisions of the bill. This was followed by a question-and-answer session.
