Taking into consideration the situation that has been created and the existing dangers, as well as the former partnering ties with Nikol Pashinyan, and to make the revolution made by the people irreversible, the Democratic Homeland Party supports the constitutional articles to be amended. This is stated in the statement issued by the political council of the Democratic Homeland Party.

The statement reads as follows:

“For decades, like the entire judiciary and systems of public administration and self-governance, the Constitutional Court has also served the group that seized the power of the people.

After shift of power in 2018, the process of making the aforementioned systems constitutional and bringing the guilty to justice was not sufficient. This has led to a crisis in the public administration system, and it was more clearly seen in the case of the Constitutional Court.

The comprehensive change of the Constitution rejected by the people in 2015 had to be made at least a year ago. In this case, there would be no need to gear scarce resources towards a referendum.

The referendum will keep the people and the public administration system tense, and the former authorities will use their funds and the media to disorient the people, increase tension and try to return to politics.

These dangers wouldn’t have existed, if there was a legal and political evaluation of the former authorities, vetting and transitional justice were introduced and the tens of billions of dollars stolen from the people were returned right after the revolution.

Taking into consideration the situation that has been created and the existing dangers, as well as the former partnering ties with Nikol Pashinyan, and to make the revolution made by the people irreversible, the Democratic Homeland Party supports the constitutional articles to be amended, with the certainty that the positive outcome of the referendum will bring a new sweep to the authorities to lead the revolution to its victory.”
