The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, received UN Resident Coordinator  in Armenia Shombi Sharp, and the heads of specialized agencies of the UN. The deputy ministers and other representatives of the stakeholders involved in the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Republic of Armenia also participated in the meeting.

They discussed the nationalization and implementation of the SDGs and their alignment with the reform program of the Government of the Republic of Armenia.

Representatives of UN specialized agencies and interested Armenian agencies exchanged views on progress made in their areas of competence, and existing shortcomings and challenges.

The parties emphasized the importance of meetings in such a format. In this context, the Foreign Minister attached importance to the establishment of a coordinating body for the implementation of the SDGs in Armenia, and informed that discussions on the draft decision of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia on the establishment of an SDG council in the country were at the final stage.
