YEREVAN. – It is proposed to restrict the issuance of new licenses for mining activities in Armenia for two years—but only for metal mineral resources. Majority My Step faction MP Meri Galstyan, co-author of a package of bills on making amendments and supplements to the law on mineral resources and related laws, said this during this legislative initiative’s debate at the meeting of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly.

But the committee did not endorse this legislative initiative, arguing that it will be a bad signal to investors, businesses, and cause an undesirable socioeconomic situation in country.
