The Chinese government calls on the US to immediately halt the political manipulation over the Hong Kong national security bill, said MFA spokesperson Zhao Lijian.

China’s plan has prompted international condemnation, including from the US, which has asked the UN security council to hold a meeting in this regard.

"We urge the US to immediately stop such pointless political manipulation and do something useful for the international community," The Guardian reported quoting Lijian.
