President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian today hosted Speaker of the National Assembly of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Artur Tovmasyan, as reported the news service of the Staff of the President.

Once again, President Sarkissian congratulated the newly elected head and deputies of the Parliament of Artsakh and stated that the parliamentary and presidential elections proved that Artsakh has become a well-established democratic state.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Tovmasyan assured that he will continue to take steps to enhance the ties between the parliaments of Artsakh and Armenia and make the cooperation more fruitful.

Talking about the prospects for Artsakh’s development, President Sarkissian attached importance to the specific formulation of the primary objectives, particularly stressed the issue of demography and said it was important to support and encourage people to settle in Artsakh through special programs. He also stated that this can serve as a tremendous contribution to the economies of Artsakh and Armenia and in terms of food safety.
