Agriculture expert Garnik Petrosyan says Armenian exporters have faced more and more hardships at Upper Lars control checkpoint following the revolution that took place in Armenia.

According to him, Yerevan has to inform the Eurasian Economic Union about the issue on lifting artificial barriers at the checkpoint.

“Ever since Armenia acceded to the Union, Armenian exporters haven’t been able to come to terms with border guards and are inspected several times. There is still a monopoly in this sector. The government needs to support exporters,” Garnik Petrosyan said, adding that farmers still have no confidence in the agricultural insurance program and that the lack of specialists also has a negative impact on the development of agriculture.
