Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan has posted the following on his Facebook page:

“I have addressed a letter to President of the European Parliament David Sassoli regarding the marked pro-Azerbaijani statement by three delegates of the European Parliament.

I am citing a short excerpt: “This statement is maximally inacceptable, taking into consideration this period when the President and Minister of Defense of the Azerbaijani Republic are threatening to unleash a new war.

It should be mentioned that anti-national and belligerent officials of Azerbaijan can take advantage of such statements by delegates of the European Union as a possibility to use military force and unleash aggression against the population of Artsakh.

I would like to add that we are concerned about the position of Co-Rapporteur on Armenia Basescu, who is known for his close ties with Azerbaijan’s leadership and has made comments against the Armenians residing in Romania in the past. This serves as a ground to assume that Traian Basescu was incapable of renouncing his previous relationships and show a faithful and inclusive approach to his current commitments.”
