The European Court has banned data transfer from the European Union to the US, Interfax reported.

According to it, the data transfer puts Europeans at risk of surveillance by US authorities.

An unexpected decision by the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg overturns the EU-US data transfer agreement known as the Privacy Shield. 

Depending on how the court ruling will be applied, some of the giants - including Facebook Inc., Alphabet Inc., and Apple Inc. - may face a choice whether to relocate data centers to Europe, or stop doing business in the region.
