Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan today chaired the session of the Digitization Council, which considered the draft of the 2020-25 Digitization Strategy of Armenia.

Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Stepan Tsaturyan presented the goals of the Strategy and the roadmap for implementation of those goals. He stated that Armenia is among the leading countries in terms of the advancement of electronic governance and digital technologies and added that the Digitization Strategy envisages digital transformation of the state, economy and society. According to Tsaturyan, implementation of the Strategy will result in ensuring of high quality of provision of public services, increase in effectiveness of public administration, institutional digitization, etc.

The participants of the session exchanged views on the Strategy and discussed the common standards and formats for digitization, the scope of state services provided according to sectors, inter-agency cooperation, the development of cyber security infrastructures, the interoperability of data systems and the harmonization of activities already implemented for digitization.

The head of government emphasized that digitization is a revolutionary process, adding that the Digitization Strategy needs to set specific political goals and visible bars so that the public can have a picture of the goals and outcomes. In this context, Pashinyan attached importance to active public communication and wide awareness about the processes of digital transformation and gave assignments.
