The EU Council will study the issue of adding Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to the new sanctions list, the President of the European Council Charles Michel told a briefing on Wednesday.

He noted that in the near future, they will impose sanctions on a number of officials responsible for violence, repression, and falsification of election results in Belarus.

As the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, noted, the leaders of the 27 EU countries unanimously supported the decision to impose sanctions.
