Berlin is exerting diplomatic efforts to persuade Athens and Ankara to restore the deadlocked negotiations over the two sides’ issues that emerged after Greece signed a maritime border agreement with Egypt, Kathimerini reports.

EU Minister of Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell is expected to submit a document on the potential sanctions against Turkey for violating the continental shelf of Greece and Cyprus during the August 27-28 Informal Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers.

According to information, attempts are being made to organize the trilateral meeting of the diplomatic consultants of Germany, Greece and Turkey.

The Greek government’s sources confirmed that Athens will engage in dialogue, but it all depends on Ankara’s actions and provocations.
