The authorities need to have several scenarios for what the world will be like after the coronavirus. Second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan stated this during a meeting with economic journalists.

Commenting on the rumors about multibillion-dollar programs and new segments, the former president noted that there may be people who believe in it, but he does not think that an economically conscious person can believe in it. According to him, a roundtable discussion can be organized to discuss a program to save Armenia’s economy, especially since some economists and political parties have specific proposals in this regard.

"There is a lot of uncertainty. Today they talk about the post-coronavirus world; I do not know what that is. I assume 2-3 scenarios. One of them, we will just forget what happened and move on to the previous life; this is the case when there is an effective vaccine and the problem is solved. But it can also be the opposite—one coronavirus can replace another. I believe we need a plan, and not sit and wait when the problem will knock on the door. Of course, this requires a lot of energy and resources. Foresight is one of the functions of the state," Kocharyan said, adding that the rumors about $30bn-worth programs start when people do not know what to do.

“There is another approach, too: giving hope to the people,” Robert Kocharyan concluded.
