Arman Dilanyan has been elected President of the Constitutional Court of Armenia, as reported Chief of Staff of the Constitutional Court Edgar Ghazinyan on his Facebook page.

The former President of the Constitutional Court was Hrayr Tovmasyan, whose powers were terminated with the amendments to the Constitution, and an appeal regarding these amendments has been submitted to the European Court of Human Rights.

Afterwards, the Government, the General Assembly of Judges and the President of Armenia nominated candidates. Yervand Khundkaryan, Edgar Shatiryan and Artur Vagharshyan were elected judges of the Constitutional Court, and this was followed by the elections of President and Vice-President. Yervand Khundkaryan nominated himself, and former President Hrayr Tovmasyan had nominated Ashot Khachatryan, but the latter recused himself, after which Arman Dilanyan was elected President of the Constitutional Court.

Arman Dilanyan is a graduate of the Faculty of Law at Yerevan State University, has the ranking of Candidate of Legal Sciences, has served in the Constitutional Court and lectures at the Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University. On December 12, 2013, he was appointed judge of the Administrative Court of Armenia upon a presidential decree. On April 28, 2017, the General Assembly of the Union of Judges of Armenia elected him a member of the Union of Judges. He is also author of several scientific articles.
