Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan today met with participants of the "iGorts" program for engagement of Diaspora Armenian professionals in Armenia’s public administration bodies.

The Prime Minister greeted the participants and stated the following:

“The government prepared for the program with great enthusiasm and great expectations. The meaning and aim of the program was to bring young Diaspora Armenian professionals and engage them in the work of Armenia’s public administration bodies for a certain period. However, I must admit that there were several complications right from the start, including the coronavirus pandemic and the war. Now, the idea that initially lied at the core of the program is more urgent because we can solve the challenges facing Armenia through the intellect and potential of the whole nation. I would like to hear your and High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan’s opinions on the program and listen to you share your impressions.”

Sinanyan stated that the results of the first "iGorts" program show that it corresponds to the vision underlying the program. He stated that there were 800 applicants, but this year there are 49 participants from different countries who arrived during and after the war. They are working for 19 state institutions and have the opportunity to share their knowledge and experience for improvement of various sectors and development of policies and programs. Sinanyan also touched upon the social aspect of the program and informed that some of the participants have decided to repatriate to Armenia with their families.

The participants of the program introduced themselves, talked about the activities that they are carrying out with various government agencies and shared their impressions and asked the Prime Minister their questions of concern. Pashinyan shared his views on the expectations in the post-war era, Armenia’s transformation and advancement, economic development, increase of effectiveness of the public administration system, education reforms, development of the IT sector, strengthening of the Armenia-Diaspora-Artsakh relations, efforts for preservation of the Armenian identity within Armenian communities of the Diaspora and more.
