Armenia’s opposition Homeland Salvation Movement posted the following on its Facebook page:

“Vazgen Manukyan today met with a group of supporters and discussed the domestic political situation created in Armenia, the country’s socio-economic and security issues, the potential geopolitical developments in the region, the activities of the Homeland Salvation Movement and other issues.

The young supporters attending the meeting spoke about the need for reinforcement of the national identity and the formation of national authorities and listened to Vazgen Manukyan’s views on those issues.

According to Manukyan, national ideology and national ideas don’t contradict each other, and in terms of shaping a citizen with national and democratic values, he attached importance to the role of the education system first.

The participants of the meeting said shift of power in the current situation is urgent, asked about the plans of the Homeland Salvation Movement and expressed willingness to actively support the activities of the Movement.

Vazgen Manukyan stressed that the demand for shift of power in Armenia is necessary for maintenance of statehood and ensuring of national security, not a political demand.”
