YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: The number of births in Armenia has increased. Zhoghovurd daily was informed by the RA Statistical Committee that in the case when the number of births in our republic in January-December 2018 was 36,574, in 2019— 36,041, then in the same period of 2020 it increased to 36,448.

In addition, the number of stillbirths has decreased from 606 reaching to 450 in one year, whereas the death toll has risen by 9,185 in one year.

The other negative news: They started getting married less in Armenia. In the case when in 2019 15,561 [marriages] were registered, in 2020 the number of marriages was 12,179.

Zhoghovurd daily learned that the cases of divorces in Armenia in January-December of the previous year was 3,155; that is, the divorces decreased by 725 during one year.

According to a number of experts, today young people prefer the option of civil marriage.
