The South African COVID-19 mutation has not yet been identified in Guinea, and Ebola hemorrhagic fever is unlikely to lead to new mutations of the coronavirus, the head of the WHO Head of Office and Representative in Guinea, Georges Ki-Zerbo, told RIA Novosti.

According to him, it will be possible to use the mechanisms that have already appeared in the country to counter COVID-19 to combat Ebola.

Ebola virus disease is an acute viral infection that affects humans and some species of animals. The Ebola epidemic broke out in West Africa in 2015 and mainly affected three countries: Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.

He noted that it will be possible to use the same surveillance tools, laboratories, and even therapies that were created to combat COVID-19. However, it is also necessary to strengthen the medical and expert teams in the field.
